FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about paying your SEVIS fee with SevisGo.

General

What is the SEVIS I-901 fee?

The I-901 SEVIS fee is a mandatory fee required by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for international students (F-1/M-1 visa) and exchange visitors (J-1 visa) before they can attend a visa interview. The fee is $350 for F-1/M-1 students and $220 for J-1 exchange visitors.

Why can't I just pay the SEVIS fee myself?

Students from Ghana are restricted from using credit/debit cards to pay the SEVIS fee on the official fmjfee.com website. Your only official options are Western Union Quick Pay (which has high fees and limited availability), a US bank check/money order (almost impossible from Ghana), or having someone in the US pay on your behalf. That is exactly what SevisGo does for you.

Is SevisGo a legitimate service?

Yes. SevisGo facilitates your SEVIS fee payment through an authorized US-based agent who pays the fee on the official fmjfee.com website on your behalf. The DHS explicitly allows third-party payments. However, please note that SevisGo is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government.

Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, bank transfers, and debit/credit cards through Paystack, Africa's most trusted payment gateway.

How much does it cost?

You pay the SEVIS fee (converted to GHS at the current exchange rate) plus our service fee. The exact amount is calculated and displayed before you pay. There are no hidden fees.

Is my payment secure?

Absolutely. All payments are processed through Paystack, which is PCI DSS compliant and uses bank-level encryption. We never store your payment card details.

Can I get a refund?

If your SEVIS fee has not yet been paid on fmjfee.com, we can process a refund minus any transaction fees. Once the SEVIS fee has been submitted to DHS, refunds are not possible as the fee is non-refundable per DHS policy.

Process

How long does it take to process my SEVIS fee?

After your payment is confirmed, our US-based team processes your SEVIS fee within 30 hours for Express or 3-5 days for Standard. You can track the progress in real-time on your dashboard.

What is a SEVIS coupon and how do I get one?

A SEVIS coupon is a document generated on fmjfee.com that contains your SEVIS ID and payment details. To get one: go to fmjfee.com, fill out the I-901 form, select 'pay later' at the payment step, and save/download the coupon. You'll upload this coupon when creating your application on SevisGo.

How do I track my payment?

After submitting your application, log in to your SevisGo dashboard. You'll see a step-by-step progress tracker showing: Payment Received → Processing → SEVIS Paid → Receipt Ready. You'll also receive email notifications at each step.

How do I get my SEVIS receipt?

Once our team pays your SEVIS fee, we upload the official I-901 payment confirmation to your dashboard. You'll receive an email notification, and you can download the receipt directly from your account. Print this receipt for your visa interview.

Account & Security

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data. Your personal information (SEVIS ID, date of birth, etc.) is only used to process your SEVIS fee payment and is never shared with third parties.

Can I submit multiple applications?

Yes, you can submit multiple applications if needed (e.g., if you need to pay SEVIS fees for different programs). Each application is tracked separately on your dashboard.
